Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do those who work for non-profit organizations get paid?

Employees who work for non-profit organizations get paid. (Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) also employ volunteers who work for free. On the other hand, salaries at non-profits are often far lower than in the corporate sphere. All NGOs rely on donations to fund their operations, which is one explanation. Because they cannot generate revenue, they rely on funders to cover their expenses. Everyone (especially donors) expects NGOs to pay themselves less, so they may spend more of the money they get in donations on helping people in their communities.

Are any NGOs or social welfare organizations working to alleviate poverty in Bihar?

Yes, a lot of things are working. The most well-known is SAMRIDHI, created by IIM alum Kaushalendra Kumar.
