Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan Gyan Deep Initiative
The “Gyaan Deep” initiative is designed to reach children between the ages of 6 and 14 years, primarily those enrolled in classes 1 to 8, who often struggle in school due to poor foundational knowledge, language barriers, and lack of extra academic support. Many of these children come from remote forested villages where access to quality education remains a distant dream. Recognizing this gap, Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan has set up community-based learning centers in these five districts to provide focused academic support to children at no cost. Classes are held five days a week and are conducted by locally trained educators, many of whom come from the same communities as the children.

Gyaan Deep Curriculum
The curriculum focuses on basic English reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary development, spoken English, and mathematics (arithmetic and problem-solving). Teaching methods are interactive, child-centered, and adapted to local contexts. Storytelling, games, group activities, and worksheets are used to make learning enjoyable and meaningful. Ms. Kaushilya, President of Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan, emphasized the broader vision of the initiative, saying: “We believe that every child has the right to learn. ‘Gyaan Deep’ is our effort to make education accessible, engaging, and empowering for tribal children. We are not just improving academic skills—we are nurturing their self-esteem and confidence.” Ms. Savita Rath, Secretary of the organization, added:
“The real success of this initiative lies in the support from parents and community leaders. Many parents who never went to school themselves are now taking pride in their children’s learning. That is the kind of social change we are aiming for.” Mr. Rajbalee Markam, the Program Coordinator, shared his experience from the field: “We see clear changes in these children—where once there was hesitation and silence, there is now confidence and curiosity.

They are not only learning to read and calculate, but also to express themselves, ask questions, and dream big.” The initiative has also become a community mobilization effort, with parents volunteering at centers, helping children revise at home, and ensuring regular attendance.
Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan – Gyaan Deep Losses in COVID -19
The program is particularly significant in light of the learning loss suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit marginalized children the hardest. Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan is also developing assessment tools to track each child’s progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Monthly evaluations and parent-teacher meetings are helping build a bridge between school education and community-based learning.

Encouraged by the positive outcomes, the organization is now preparing to expand “Gyaan Deep” to more districts of Chhattisgarh and eventually across Central India, with the aim of supporting 1,000+ tribal children by next year. By combining education with empowerment, Bhumi Bandhu Sansthan is lighting a path of hope and opportunity. Through “Gyaan Deep,” they are not just teaching lessons—they are building futures.
