About Us

SAKSHI - Center for Information Education and Communication was established in 1993 with by Dr. Dharam Anand to address critical issues in the fields of Health and Education. Sakshi has 15 diverse initiatives encompassing children’s education, women empowerment, health, hygiene, and the promotion of Indian culture, benefiting numerous children and women; their impactful initiatives include providing midday meals to children, covering multiple districts with Women's helpline support, educating girls, delivering digital education to schools, and sponsoring school libraries, while also working to improve sanitation, offer vocational training, run helplines for women, and promote communal health by providing clean water and installing toilets in impoverished areas. Over the years, it has expanded to work with marginalized communities in various regions, including Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Sonipat, and other areas within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Mission

• Since 1993, Sakshi has been dedicated to educating and rehabilitating children in marginalized slum communities, ensuring they receive the care, support, and opportunities they deserve. We believe every child has the right to food, shelter, education, healthcare, and emotional well-being, and we work to protect these rights while helping them realize their full potential. Once a child joins Sakshi, their entire family becomes part of the *Sakshi Parivaar*, gaining access to social workers, nutrition and hygiene experts, and skill-building programs that support long-term financial independence. Our vision is to become the leading NGO in Delhi, expanding our services across Delhi-NCR while empowering women through education, vocational training, and mental-health support.
• We believe that the underprivileged population cannot free themselves from the vicious circle of poverty and benefit from sustainable development unless educated. Education reinforces children’s abilities to choose their future, because it expands their vision about the world and about themselves. Education is the key to unlocking the potential within each individual.
