About Us
Aaina (since 1998) is an NGO based in Odisha focusing on vulnerable groups—especially people with disabilities, women, children, the elderly and other socially excluded communities. It aims for inclusion, equality, identity, and dignity through participatory program interventions, policy advocacy, research, training & documentation.

Mission
- An inclusive society where each person has identity, independence, and exercises rights with dignity and equality—especially persons with disability, women, children, the elderly, the ultra-poor and socially excluded groups.
- Empower marginalised groups through participatory interventions, advocacy, special education, and inclusion, and ensure their rights are realised.

• Founded 1998; registered in 1999 • First special integration school, Amo Vidyalaya / creativity & arts therapy after Supercyclone • District-wide disability prevalence surveys; Project Ananya • Sustained programmes for inclusion & awareness; started bridge & inclusive education projects • Expanded programmes to include SRHR, MHM, women collectives, digital literacy, etc.

Recognised as a front-ranking NGO in Odisha for disability & inclusion • Special consultative status with UN ECOSOC since 2018 • Awards: IHW Bronze during Covid, WCPD Awards, Spirit of Humanity • Built network & reach: project offices in multiple districts, working across hundreds of villages • Established special schools, inclusion centres, bridge classes, and vocational training for PwDs • IHW Bronze Award (Covid Protection Project) • WCPD Award (Women with Disability) [2017] • Spirit of Humanity Award (Jury’s Choice) [2011] • Best NGO on Girl Child Program (Ganjam District)
