Awareness Initiative Conducted in Collaboration with Sahara Jan Kalyan Samiti, Sagar
Bina, Sagar District: In compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court and with a focus on students’ mental health and welfare, Government Girls College, Bina, in collaboration with Sahara Jan Kalyan Samiti, Sagar, organized a one-day training program on “Mental Health and Student Welfare.”
The program aimed to educate students about mental health, stress management, positive thinking, and maintaining balance in life. Experts provided valuable guidance and practical insights to help students cope with challenges and lead healthier lives and focus on their studies better.

Program Inaugurated by Chairperson of the College Public Participation Committee
The program commenced with an address by Mrs. Sonali Rai, Chairperson of the College Public Participation Committee. While addressing the students, she emphasized that life’s challenges should be faced with patience and a positive mindset which would enable them to perform better.
She encouraged students not to take any step that could negatively affect their own lives, their families or their parents. She stressed that every problem can be resolved through communication and proper guidance.
Importance of Mental Health Explained by Psychologist Dr. Shailendra Yadav
Dr. Shailendra Yadav, psychologist from Sahara Jan Kalyan Samiti, highlighted the importance of mental health in detail. He explained that academic pressure, concerns about the future and social circumstances often become sources of stress for students.
He encouraged the students to understand their emotions, create a positive environment around themselves, and seek professional help whenever necessary.
Principal Highlights the Role of Yoga and Meditation
The Principal of the college, Dr. Rashmi Jain, stated that yoga and meditation play a significant role in improving mental health. She explained that regular yoga practice, a disciplined routine, and positive thinking help students manage stress effectively while enhancing concentration and self-confidence.

Nodal Officer Encourages Open Communication
The program’s Nodal Officer, Dr. Harishankar Sen, raised awareness about mental health among students and emphasized the importance of understanding one’s mental condition.
He advised students to communicate with teachers, family members or experts rather than hiding their problems. He described self-confidence, discipline and positive thinking as the foundation of success.
Senior Faculty Member Shares Mahatma Gandhi’s Perspective on Mental Peace
Senior faculty member Mr. Prakash Chandra referred to the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, explaining that Gandhi valued mental peace through truth, non-violence, self-discipline and positive thinking. He stated that Gandhi’s life continues to inspire balanced thinking and restrained behavior.
Mental Health Expert Provides Psychological Guidance
Mrs. Ritu Rajput, Mental Health Expert from the Primary Health Centre, also addressed the students and faculty members. She shared psychological techniques for maintaining good mental health and provided guidance on identifying stress, managing emotions and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Participation and Contributions from Experts and Faculty Members
As a participant in the program, Dr. Nishi Bhadauria also shared her views on mental health and student welfare, contributing valuable insights for the students.
The event witnessed active participation from the entire college staff. Faculty members and staff present on the occasion included Dr. Ashish Gupta, Dr. Vishal Mishra, Dr. Aman Arya, Mrs. Neeta Namdev, Mr. Naveen Namdev, Ms. Kirti Thakur, Mrs. Manita Rajput, Mr. Arun Upadhyay, Mr. Rajiv Lodhi and Kritika Ratnakar, along with other members of the college family.

Objective of the Program
The primary objective of the program was to increase awareness about mental health among students, motivate them to lead stress-free lives, and create a healthy, supportive, and positive academic environment. Through expert guidance and interactive discussions, the initiative sought to equip students with the knowledge and confidence needed to maintain their mental well-being and achieve holistic development.
