MESKP Painting Competition: On 26 September 2025, a quiet corner of Bihar came alive with laughter, chatter and the soft scratch of paintbrushes on paper. For the children gathered there, this was not just another day, it was a day of wonder, discovery and dreams taking shape in vibrant colors.
MESKP, dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities, had organized a painting competition for children who rarely get a chance to explore art or simply play. Dozens of young participants, some shy, some bursting with excitement, arrived with eyes wide open and hearts full of curiosity. For many, this was their first time holding a paintbrush.
The scene was both chaotic and magical. Children dipped their brushes into bright colors, smudged paint across the paper, laughed at accidental splashes and helped each other mix shades. One little boy, who had never held crayons before, carefully painted a tiny house with smoke curling from its chimney, whispering, “This is my home… I want it to be happy.” Nearby, a girl painted a tree with birds perched on the branches, her mother watching with tears in her eyes.
Local artists and social workers, invited as judges, walked among the children, marveling at their creativity and imagination. Each painting told a story, not just of dreams, but of resilience, hope and the little joys that these children cling to despite difficult circumstances.
Winners were celebrated with certificates, small prizes and art kits, but mahila Evam Shishu Kalyan Parishad made sure every child felt proud and valued. Volunteers gave encouraging words, clapped and cheered. A mother smiled widely, saying, “My daughter has never been celebrated like this before. Today, she feels special.”
For mahila Evam Shishu Kalyan Parishad, the event was never just about competition. It was about giving children a voice, nurturing their confidence and showing families and communities the hidden talents that often go unnoticed. As one volunteer put it, “A paintbrush in their hands can mean the world. It’s more than art, its hope.”
Parents, neighbors and local community members joined in, creating a festive atmosphere. The paintings, colorful and heartfelt, transformed the hall into a gallery of dreams, laughter and resilience. For the children, it was a day they would remember for years, a day when their creativity was celebrated, their voices were heard and their joy was visible for all to see.
Mahila Evam Shishu Kalyan Parishad has announced plans to organize similar events across Bihar, ensuring that more children can experience these moments of happiness and empowerment. By nurturing creativity and self-expression, the NGO continues to build a brighter and more inclusive future, one brushstroke at a time
