Integrated Development Foundation (IDF) is a social development organisation working tirelessly to raise aspirations and improve quality of life for excluded rural populations and communities across Bihar & Jharkhand. Founded in 1993 by a band of seasoned social development professionals, IDF has travelled a long way through diverse strategies to strenuously take forward its mission in real spirit implementing various community-based projects at grass-root level. It has been pioneer in community level process and capacity enhancement.
The organisation envisions to build an egalitarian society in which all community members can realize their right to a life of quality and dignity. It has Mission to ensure better health, security, and well-being for the poorest and most deprived members of rural communities. Our long-term goal is to develop project models that are sustainable and can be replicated by government agencies state-wide and IDF has created landmark by a major health education initiative on kala azar (Visceral Leishmaniasis) for the government of Bihar. It has implemented the flagship intervention of educating adolescent girls on Menstrual Health Management, facilitated Clean water and sanitation to large number of rural families,facilitated Socio-emotional resiliencefor girlsand ensured Child-Centred community development in villages.
The organisation is guided by three operating principles: building local capacity, strengthening community institutions, creating sustainable rural development through convergence and leveraging resources. IDF enjoys the privilege of getting support by UN agencies, National and International funders,Leading Corporate houses under CSR and state governments. IDF is also the lead member of several state and regional NGO networks.

Our Programs
TARUNYA – Adolescent Health and Development
TARUNYA – Adolescent Health and Development is a transformative initiative by IDF, in collaboration with Engender Health, aimed at enhancing the overall well-being of adolescents in Jamui, Bihar. This program adopts a holistic approach to adolescent health, focusing on leadership, gender equity, and inclusivity while working strategically with multiple stakeholders. Key Objectives: Adolescent Leadership & Participation – Encouraging young people to take charge of their health and development. Gender Equity & Inclusion – Addressing social and gender-based barriers to healthcare and opportunities. Non-Communicable Disease Prevention – Tackling lifestyle-related health risks early. Violence & Injury Prevention – Promoting safe environments for adolescents. Mental Health & Well-Being – Raising awareness and providing psychosocial support. Sexual & Reproductive Health Education – Equipping teenagers with knowledge and resources for informed choices. Substance Abuse Prevention – Educating youth about the dangers of drug and alcohol misuse. Through TARUNYA, IDF is fostering a safe, healthy, and informed adolescent community by addressing critical health concerns and promoting personal development.
Holistic Rural Initiative for Development and Yield
The Holistic Rural Initiative for Development and Yield (HRIDY) in Gaya, Bihar, is a multi-dimensional rural development program aimed at uplifting entire villages by addressing critical socio-economic gaps. Led by IDF, this initiative ensures community-driven development by strengthening local organizations, enhancing livelihoods, and creating sustainable rural infrastructure. Key focus areas include: Community Empowerment – Strengthening farmers' groups, SHGs, teenage groups, and village development committees. Skill Development & Training – Equipping core group members with master trainer skills for self-sustaining progress. Infrastructure & Asset Creation – Developing communal assets based on village needs. Collaboration with Government & NGOs – Aligning with government programs to maximize impact. Accessible & Sustainable Solutions – Ensuring services are easily available and meet long-term community needs. Through integrated planning and execution, HRIDY fosters a self-sustaining rural ecosystem, driving economic resilience and improved quality of life.

Key Milestones & Achievements
- Facilitated the Support My School Campaign (SMS) towards improving school infrastructure, received the Total Sanitation Campaign (Nirmal Gram) Award from the Chief Minister of Bihar, earned the Credibility Alliance Certificate for meeting desirable norms for governance, transparency, accountability, and internal policies and procedures, became a Member of Grant Aid Committee for the Government of Bihar, District Health Mission and Voluntary Action Network India (VANI).
