Winter in India arrives with cold waves that severely impact vulnerable communities who lack protection from the harsh weather. For thousands of homeless individuals, daily wage workers, elderly citizens and underprivileged families, winter becomes a difficult struggle for survival. With temperatures dropping sharply across Noida and Delhi/NCR, many people are left exposed to freezing conditions without blankets, warm clothing or safe shelter.
Initiating the Winter Relief Drive
Understanding the urgency of this situation, Aapke Saath Foundation initiated an intensive Winter Relief Drive, during which our team successfully distributed 100+ blankets to individuals in need. The Winter Relief Drive is a core part of our foundation’s commitment to providing humanitarian support to those who face severe challenges during the cold season.
Why This Drive Matters
Harsh Living Conditions for Vulnerable Groups
Many people sleep on pavements, roadside corners, unfinished buildings and temporary settlements that offer little protection from icy winds. Children, elderly individuals and labourers are the most affected, as the lack of resources makes them extremely vulnerable to cold-related illnesses. Our relief drive aims to address these challenges by offering timely assistance and ensuring that vulnerable communities receive essential winter protection.
Execution of the Distribution Drive
Identifying High-Need Zones
The distribution activity allowed us to reach people living in high-need zones across Noida and Delhi/NCR. Before beginning the drive, our team conducted detailed surveys to identify areas where support was urgently required.
On-Ground Efforts and Late-Night Distribution
Once the mapping was complete, volunteers coordinated logistics and worked late into the evening to ensure that the blankets were delivered directly to those sleeping outdoors. Many individuals expressed deep gratitude, and their relief was visible as they wrapped themselves in the warmth provided. These small acts of care strengthen community bonds and reinforce the importance of standing together during difficult times.
Connecting to Our Mission
Reducing Health Risks Among the Poor
The Winter Relief Drive also aligns closely with our mission of poverty alleviation, social welfare, and humanitarian aid. Winter poses serious health risks to those without shelter or proper clothing. Respiratory infections, fever, and cold-related illnesses increase drastically during this season, especially among people who cannot afford medical care. By distributing blankets at the right moment, we help reduce these risks and offer essential protection to individuals who would otherwise remain vulnerable.
Highlighting the Everyday Struggles of Marginalized Communities
Our efforts also highlight the importance of recognizing the everyday struggles of people living on the margins of society. Throughout the drive, our volunteers encountered many stories that reflected both hardship and resilience.
- Elderly people shared how difficult winter nights become without a source of warmth.
- Daily wage workers described how they often sleep without blankets because their limited income barely covers food and basic needs.
- Families living in makeshift shelters expressed how the extreme cold affects the health of their children.
These interactions motivate us to continue expanding our support and reaching more people as winter progresses.
Continuing the Mission Through Collective Support
Although this major phase of distribution has been completed, the need remains significant. Winter is still ongoing, and thousands continue to sleep outside without proper protection. To expand our reach further, we rely on the generosity of individuals who believe in helping those facing difficult circumstances. Every contribution helps us provide essential relief to someone in urgent need.
Join Us in Spreading Warmth
We invite compassionate individuals and supporters to join us in this mission of humanity. Together, we can continue to offer warmth, dignity and hope to those enduring the harsh winter cold.
