Welcome to Wayanad Girijana Seva Trust, a charitable organization registered in the year 2002 with the prime and supreme objective of contributing to the method of education with a spotlight on Re-schooling the varsity drop-outs among the kids from the impoverished Tribal(Aboriginal) communities across Wayanad District one in all the foremost backward district in Kerala State
About Us
When the fate of tribal dropouts from regular school was hanging in balance in this district Wayanad of Kerala, we formed a charitable trust in the year 2002 and at the same time started this tribal residential school with 42 kids in a thatched shed that has now transformed into big venture housing above 200 plus tribal kids every year but this year it is reduced to 110 due to closure of the school for 2 years owing to covid-19 pandemic. This school campus thus become a secure place for the tribal kids to live & learn with all amenities being provided free of cost for the last 16 years. Then, the conditions here were highly challenging in remote and difficult terrain, poor infrastructure, and poorly developed transport facilities. It was after 7 years we got support from various NGOs & private companies. A group of employees is servicing here at school. We the trust are bringing these poor tribal kids to mainstream society through this noble cause. This year we also started imparting short-term job-oriented training in Wiremen & Plumping and Tailoring & Embroidery exclusively meant for matriculated tribal youths of 18 and above years old. Each batch has having strength of 30 at now.

Founded: Established to work for the welfare, education, and upliftment of tribal (Girijana) communities in Wayanad district, Kerala. Early Years: Initiated educational support programs for tribal children, focusing on school enrollment, retention, and basic literacy in remote forest settlements. Expansion Phase: Launched residential care, nutrition support, and remedial education initiatives to address dropout rates and malnutrition among tribal children. Women Empowerment: Introduced livelihood training and self-help group programs for tribal women to enhance income generation, financial independence, and household stability. Health & Welfare: Started health awareness, sanitation, and maternal-child care programs improving hygiene practices and access to basic healthcare services. Community Reach: Expanded operations across multiple tribal hamlets in Wayanad, benefiting thousands of tribal children, women, and families annually. Sustained Impact: Recognized locally for long-term commitment to tribal development, preserving cultural identity while improving education, health, and socio-economic conditions.
Awards
As a prime step towards achieving the goal the Trust started one Residential School named Vivekananda Residential Tribal Vidyalaya in the same year with 42 students in a thatched shed and later it was accredited with National Institute of Open Schooling of (H.R.D.
