The Akshaya Patra Foundation

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organization driven by a simple yet powerful mission: to ensure that no child goes hungry and that hunger does not hinder education. Since its inception in 2000, the foundation has been providing nutritious meals to over 2.1 million children every school day across 24,000 schools in India. However, their efforts extend beyond feeding children. In times of crisis, such as floods, cyclones, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Akshaya Patra has stepped in to provide food relief, grocery kits, and support to vulnerable communities. The foundation also runs a variety of social initiatives, including feeding programs for expecting mothers, the elderly, and the homeless, as well as health check-up camps and scholarship programs. With the support of government and corporate partners, Akshaya Patra has served over 3.5 billion meals, making a lasting impact on communities across India.
