Azim Premji Foundation
The Foundation began by performing several programs to promote educational quality. It is a not-for-profit organization serving 2000 the basic education system in rural government schools. By 2010, it became clear that working in a “project” mode was inadequate, and it needed constant work over several decades for any deep-rooted change to happen. The foundation has a vision to contribute towards creating a just, equitable, humane, and sustainable society in India. Over the years, the founder has donated most of his wealth towards philanthropic causes, creating a philanthropic endowment valued at approximately INR 2,40,000 crore as of January 2023 to fund the Foundation’s work.
About Us
The Foundation works extensively in school education through field institutions in over 50 districts across India. It also runs the Azim Premji University in Bengaluru, preparing professionals in education and development. In addition, through Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives, it supports organizations working on issues of health, nutrition, and vulnerable groups.
