History

The UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded in 1945 as a specialized body of the UN. Its roots can be traced back to the end of World War II. Initally created to help rebuild war-torn Europe, UNESCO quickly grew its goal to promote peace and unity between countries through education, science, and culture.
