4. Jan Vikas Samiti

Jan Vikas Samiti ngo logo

Jan Vikas Samiti has been working in social development for years, but it took us a long time to build an organization. Through the years, our area in and around Varanasi and other geographical regions where VPIMS has actively witnessed this ‘band-aid’ development could not heal the wounds of exploitation, uneven development, and various discriminations. As a panacea to this age-old problem faced by the poorest people, our pioneers developed a vision for a new society based on justice, equity and fullness of life for all. Thus, Jan Vikas Samiti (J.V.S.) entered and registered as a social service society in 1997.

Slowly, the organization took root in Light-Kashi (Varanasi), shining as a light in the darkness and bringing many towards life in its fullness. Since its inception, people’s organization became the central thrust of the organization, where we focused on building some ‘social capital’.
